My JW parents get $1.00 each. It wasn't my idea, it was the lawyers. If I had my way they would get a big fat $0.00.

THE IMPORTANCE OF MAKING OUT A WILL
by Dansk inthis morning claire and i saw our solicitor and finalised our wills, the originals being left in his care and keeping.
i post this as a wake up call to anyone who hasn't yet made a last will and testament.. we have had to make sure that our two daughters, who are still active jws, receive absolutely nothing because we all know that part of anything they would receive would be donated to the society.
that cannot be allowed to happen.

I will not share a meal with you but can you give me some money
by tyler m ini had to come here and post about this.
my parents who have dutifully shunned me for nearly 9 years had the nerve to ask me for money.
it wasn't for food, a car payment, house payment or anything like that.

I have no regrets about what I said to my "father". If I had to do it over again I would blast him again and then tell him to put mom on the phone and blast her too. I could hear her talking in the background. I am not going to call them and make peace. My door is closed to them. I thought about this all night and I think the only way I could allow them in my life is if they left the dubs. Otherwise they would still be emotionally abusive and dense.
You are supporting 2 of his kids that he has turned his back on?....SHAME on HIM!!! What kind of a DAD is he? Did he even RESPOND to that comment?
In all fairness they were 18 (twins) when they left but I have been supporting them the last 3 years. I do not want them to struggle like I did. His response to that comment was that it was my choice. He's right. I am under no obligation to pay for their college or bills and neither are they. I just wanted him to know that a good portion of my disposable income was going toward them and I was not about to give him any of it for a trip to Bethel.

You know, I have many friends that think I must be making up half the stories that I tell cuz they just don't believe people can be so bizarre. I tell them---talk to any former JW and they will probably have experiences that rival mine!
Now that made me laugh. I rarely ever talk about my jw past with anyone but former jw's. It's crazy the shit they pull in the name of a publishing company. I will probably laugh about this down the road and remember when dad asked for money to go to Bethel. hahahaha. I hope that's the case anyway.

Same ol' Topic?
by Jordynne ini've been reading through a lot of the posts and have to say, things are looking bad for me....i am looking for a bit of support with something that looks like an all too familiar topic:.
non-jw dating a jw.. my currently disfellowshiped jw is a 30 year old divorced father (3 children).
we have been together for 2 years.

The JW's are a sick twisted cult and you don't want to get involved with them. I agree cut your losses and move on.
They will treat your boyfriend like dirt and make him sit at the back of the kingdom hall until they feel he is worthy of being reinstated. To get reinstated it can take a few months to a few years. I have been df'd 3 times and reinstated twice. It took me less than a year because of my dad. Also it depends on what you have done. If you are a child molester they will reinstate you in no time and take you out in field service. They will even be character witnesses for you in court. But if you committed fornication (like me) or adultery they want to suffer as long as possible and grovel. Without connections you can be sitting in the back for a long time. Run for your life.

What appalling behavior and it really drives home the point that there is something missing in these people.
I have been talking with my friends about this and they say the same thing. What makes them so dense? Or stupid? I can try and chalk it up to brainwashing but not even that excuses what he did. Common sense would tell you it's a bad idea to ask money from someone who you have shunned for 9 years for a Bethel trip. Where is his freaking mind? Stupid question I know.

microphones were the last straw
by ivy init wasn't the big stuff that made me decide i could never go back, it was one little thing.
i have been thinking about my journey out of "the truth", and i think i can pin-point the last straw.. .
i had been out for years, but always thinking that if i got my head together someday i would be good enough to go back.

There was no last straw for me. I had been biding my time for years. On my 18th b-day I packed my bags and climbed out a window never to return.

I had to come here and post about this. My parents who have dutifully shunned me for nearly 9 years had the nerve to ask me for money. It wasn't for food, a car payment, house payment or anything like that. It was to go to Bethel. You see baby brother is leaving for Bethel and they want to go with him and help him get settled and see some of the sites while they are down there. I sounded like a lunatic yelling on the phone. I told my biological father I could not afford it because I was supporting his 2 other children who he abandoned when they left the cult known as Jehovahs Witnesses and I was not about to help pay for them to go to the headquarters. Even if I could afford it I would not give them 1 penny. Before I hung up on him I told him never to contact me again for anything. He would have to get help from his JW son or his JW family. The bank of Tyler M is closed forever to them. I am blown away he would ask me for money for a Bethel trip of all things. I should not be surprised but I really am.

Does anyone know how many people still claim to be of the annointed? It would be funny as hell if the # has increased through the years.

We have not been in each others lives since he was around age 10 so I don't know him anymore. All I know about his personality is what my siblings tell me and they describe him as being a goody goody and kiss ass. After reading the thread I guess he will fit in perfectly.

SO WHY AREN'T YOU AT THE MEETING THIS MORNING???
by Mary inwhat excuse could anyone possibly have as to why they're not attending the 2 hours + of boring bullshit partaking of spiritual food this morning??
as for me, i have a perfectly valid excuse: i'm doing laundry and baking banana bread this morning.
what are you doing sunday morning instead of being told you're not doing enough in god's service?

Going to a meeting has not crossed my mind in years. I find the idea very distressing not to mention boring.
